Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education

What We Do

Our Deaf Education Program provides direct and consultative services to students from birth to 21 years of age who have a verified hearing loss.

What Services Do You Offer?

The program offers in-services to staff, provides input at Individual Education Program (IEP), Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings. We also assist schools with equipment needs for deaf and hard of hearing students, and advocate for families and children who have hearing loss.

How to Contact Us

To contact the ESU #1 Deaf Educator, please call our Central Office at (402) 287-2061. Or, if you prefer, by emailing Wendy Consoli at

How to Make a Referral

If you have concerns about your child’s hearing, please call your local school district and request an audiological evaluation. Depending on the school system, this might be the under purview of the special education director or school principal.
