Andrea Janzen, Communication Teacher

Andrea Janzen serves ESU #1 as a Communication Teacher. She has been with ESU #1 since May of 2000.


Beth Nohr
, Speech/Language Pathologist
Beth Nohr received her BA Degree from the University of Nebraska in 1973 and her MA Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of South Dakota in 1991. She worked for Hartington Public Schools for 12 years and has been with ESU #1 since 2003 as a Speech/Language Pathologist. She is married, has 3 grown children, and lives in Yankton, South Dakota.

Carol McGuire
, Speech Technician

Carol McGuire serves ESU #1 as a Speech Technician. She has been with ESU #1 since January of 2004. She serves the following districts:

Carol Olson-Conrad, Speech/Language Pathologist

Carol Olson-Conrad serves ESU #1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist. Carol is currently completing her 15th year with the service unit.

Carol received her baccalaureate from South Dakota State University and her masters from The University of South Dakota. She is married to Brad and they live on an acreage outside of Ponca with their two children, Lauren and Parker. The family enjoys anything to do with horses.

Cathy Schroeder, Speech/Language Pathologist
Cathy Schroeder serves ESU #1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist. She has been with ESU #1 since 2007.

Chris Salmon

Speech/Language Pathologist
Chris has been working for ESU 1 since 1976. She took a brief 6 month retirement.recently and is now back at work as an SLP in the Pender Public School. She grew up in Norfolk NE, is a graduate of UNL, and has many hobbies including jewelry making, gardening, knitting and participating in community theater. She and her husband, Mike, enjoy going to movies and traveling, when possible. They have two daughters.


Colleen Chase, Communication Teacher

Colleen Chase is a Communication Teacher with ESU #1 in Wakefield, Nebraska. The school she currently serves is Santee Community School. Colleen has been employed with ESU #1 since 2002. Prior to joining ESU #1, she taught in Geneva, NE, Omaha, NE, Crofton, NE, and Yankton, SD. A native South Dakotan, Colleen has a Masters degree from the University of South Dakota and is certified in South Dakota and Nebraska. Colleen and her husband, Bill, have 2 adult sons, Michael and Mark. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, golfing, and boating.
Doreen Heitz, Speech/Language Pathologist
Doreen Heitz serves ESU #1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist. She has been with ESU #1 since 2007.
Haley Schmidt, Speech Technician
Haley Schmidt serves ESU #1 as a Speech Technician. She has been with ESU #1 since 2007.


Jessica Fischer
, Speech/Language Pathologist

Jessica Fischer is a Speech/Language Pathologist. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2002 and received her master's degree from University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2004. She has been with ESU #1 since 2004. Jessica lives outside of Wayne with her husband, Nick.


Joy Mason, Speech Pathologist

Joy Mason serves ESU #1 as a Speech Pathologist. She began working again at ESU #1 in 2006 after working for five years in Wagner, South Dakota. She is happy to return to ESU #1 and catch up with old friends, as well as meet new ones.

Joy has one daughter, Tiana Noe'l, who is a 7th grader at Bon Homme Middle School. They live in Tyndall, South Dakota.

Karla Drotzmann serves ESU #1 as a Speech Pathologist. She began working at ESU #1 in 2006.

Kim Halle
, Speech Technician
Kim Halle serves ESU #1 as a Speech Technician. She currently serves the Wakefield school district and has been employed with ESU #1 since 2003.
Melissa Hennings, Speech Pathologist

Melissa serves ESU #1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist. She has been with ESU #1 since 2007. Melissa received both her Undergraduate and Masters degrees from the University of South Dakota. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). She currently provides services primarily in the Winnebago district. Melissa and her husband, Scott, currently reside in Sioux City.


Nicole Bacan, Speech Pathologist
Nicole Bacan serves ESU #1 as a Speech Pathologist. She began working at ESU #1 in 2006.

Pam Barnes
, Speech Pathologist

Pam Barnes serves ESU #1 as a Speech Pathologist. She began working at ESU #1 in 2006. Pam received her graduate training in speech-language pathology at the University of Wyoming.

Pam and her husband, who live in Sioux City, have two young adult children. Her favorite leisure activity is reading and she also enjoys sewing, needlework, cooking and classical music.


Patty Kann
, Speech/Language Pathologist

Patty Kann received both her Undergraduate and Masters' Degrees from the University of South Dakota. She has worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for eight years and has been employed with ESU #1 since September of 2005. She serves Homer Community Shool and Winnebago early intervention. Patty lives in Sioux City, Iowa.

Peg Roush
, Coordinator
Peg Roush serves ESU #1 as the Speech/Language Coordinator. She has been with ESU #1 for thirty-five years.


Sara Webster, Speech/Language Pathologist

Sara Webster has worked at ESU #1 since 2003 and currently serves the Umo N Ho N Nation and Winnebago districts. She lives in Sioux City with her husband, Andy, and dog, Koda.


Sheila Becker, Speech/Language Pathologist

Sheila Becker has served ESU #1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist since August of 2002. She received her BS in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her MS in Speech-Language pathology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

Sheila worked for the Yankton School District for seven years prior to joining the ESU #1 staff in 2002. She currently provides services to Hartington Public, Holy Trinity and Cedar Catholic Schools.

Sheila and her husband, Doug, live in Hartington with their three children, Elly, Easton and Kristine.


Stephanie Kanaly, Speech/Language Pathologist

Stephanie Kanaly has been employed at ESU#1 as a Speech/Language Pathologist since August of 1997. She received her undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders in 1995 and obtained her Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology in 1997, both from the University of South Dakota. Stephanie is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). She currently provides services to Creighton Public School. Stephanie lives in Yankton, South Dakota with her husband and 5 children.


Wendy Consoli, Speech/Language Pathologist

Wendy Consoli serves ESU #1 as a Speech Language Pathologist. She has been with ESU #1 for 15 years. For the 2006-2007 school year she will serve Tower School in Wayne and Laurel-Concord Public School.
