Leah Merkwan has been employed at ESU#1 as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the past 22 years. She received both her B.S. and Master's degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota. She is currently serving Creighton, Crofton, Bloomfield, Veridgree, Wynot, Niobrara, Santee, and Santee Headstart. She serves on the ESU#1 Assistive Technology Team and is a Kids on the Block puppeteer.
Leah is a member of the Northeast Autism Team and the early childhood consultant for the Assistive Technology Partnership.
Leah lives in Walker Valley near Crofton, Nebraska. and is the mother of two grown sons.
