What We Do

ESU #1's Audiology Department serves children 0-21 years of age with comprehensive diagnostic testing and follow up either in our sound-proof booth or with portable equipment. Types of testing include:

  • Pure Tone (Tests present hearing ability)
  • Tympanometry (Tests middle ear function)
  • Otoacoustic Emissions (Tests cochlear function)
  • Auditory Processing Skills (Tests how the brain works with what it hears)

Audiological Team

Each individual will have a personalized audiological team to meet their needs. This team consists of:

  • ESU #1 Audiologist
  • ESU #1 Educator of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Parents
  • Teachers from the child's school district
  • Child's attending physician

How to Make a Referral

To make a referral, please call your local school district and request an audiological evaluation. Depending on each school system, the contact person may be the Special Education Director or Principal (Elementary, Middle School or High School).
